Granite Transformations of central Alabama makes it right!

I posted a complaint a couple of months ago on Granite Transformations of Central Alabama. I wanted to follow up with a retraction of the complaint as they have come back and fixed the problems. We are now extremely pleased with our kitchen and would highly recommend Granite Transformations for an upgrade. They were very professional in there response and did everything we needed to make the job right. The counters are not only attractive but also very durable and never need reseeling like our old granite countertop did. The counters are extremely smooth with clean lines and a lovely appearance. We have had numerous compliments on the countertops.

Granite transformations product not what they claim.

We used granite transformations for our kitchen counters. The salesman had a great pitch about the product. We went with the trend glass in black. We have had nothing but problems with staining and scratching all over the clear coat surface. We call them and they never call you back. When they have come they have know idea how to repair it. They say they will look into it and of course they never call you back. Have been dealing win this *** with them for 3 years. Called again today, said the would definitely call be back by the end of the day, to no surprise no call. They take your money and do not care about the costumer after. Do yourself a favor use the real stuff and stay away from this people. The product is not what they claim it to be.

Granite Transformations is blasted ALL over the internet - rightfully so IMO. Buyers Beware of this business - paricularly the San Antonio TX location.

I believe I am a victim of deceptive practice and unruly behavior.

I signed a contract that was supposed to include a delta faucet at 300.00 but it was for a cheaper Price Pfister faucet, yet was not brought to my attention prior to my signing. During the meeting to measure our island countertop Mr Esparza stated to me and my 18 y/o son that he would install the Delta faucet and ROUND the corners of the granite overlay. The rounded corners were an absolute for us as we consider it a safety issue - this was made clear. All of the granite in the kitchen and home have rounded corners, Mr Esparza said he would do this for free.

Later that eve I brought to Mel Esparza's attention that the faucet on the contract was not the faucet upon which we agreed. He and I agreed to remove the faucet and I would purchase one myself. He also stated in email that he would install the faucet I purchased. After the granite over lay install Mr Esparza told me he would not install the faucet and that what he meant by installing the faucet was drilling *** in the granite. His installers also did not round the corners - they are "bulldog" corners.

We asked Mr Esparza to meet my wife at our home on 1 Oct. This was to discuss some of our concerns (faucet install, non rounded corners, burn marks throughout the overlay) During this meeting Mr Esparza stated he would discount amount owed by 100.00 since we had to pay for faucet install for a final bill in amount of 697.00. He then became very argumentative and appeared agitated. He then became visibly upset, raised his voice and approached my wife in a manner that frightened her and my daughter. My wife asked him to take a step back but was put in a scarey and awkward position so she let him finish speaking. She then asked what can he do to remedy this and he replied with "nothing". She then asked him to leave and he then threatened to place a lien on our home and to collection agencies should we not pay.

We feel we were tricked into buying this counter top over lay and would like to return it. I spoke with Mr. Esparza's boss, Jeanette, who is also his wife. Through arrogance she explained that granite over lay corners cannot be rounded and therefor we are "stuck" with it. She also stated if we do not pay the remaining balance of 697.00 that they would place a lien on our home. We did not receive what we thought we were going to receive, did not receive an itemized bill and feel they should refund us. We understood that we should have rounded corners on our granite over lay, we also understood our faucet would be installed. Neither took place, yet now threaten us with placing a lien on our home and we now feel bullied into paying them for services unrendered.

On 2 Oct we emailed offering to pay half of the remaining balance for a total of 348.50. We did this in an attempt to resolve this. Mr. Esparza replied on 3 Oct and stated no, he would not accept it and that we now OWE him 797.00 as he is no longer honoring the 100.00 discount for the faucet install we had to pay.

It was the Meridian Idaho location. I've called corporate and was given the name of the person in charge of this situation. My calls have not been returned.

Oliviaryan1, I have tried to track down what location you would have purchased this from. I see you are in the Newark, NJ area which we don't service.

I contacted the owner of the location near you and he said he has not received any contact from a customer about a situation like this. Any idea on who you purchased this from?

Guest

Oliviaryan1, I am the owner of a Granite Transformations located in West Berlin, NJ. Please let me know what location you have been dealing with and we will see what we can do to get to the bottom of this.

Each Granite Transformations location is independently owned and operated and most of us care greatly about customer service. You're not my customer and I'm still looking to help you out.

Granite transfromations ripped me off

I had been saving for three years to have my kitchen done and finally chose granite transformations to do the work. I scheduled an appointment to get an estimate.

The owner showed up and we agreed on a price. I paid half down $1900.00 and was put on the schedule for installation. Well 2 months later they owed down and I lost my money. Repeated calls to Granite transformations corporate office have been ignored.

Do not use this company whatever u do. I may never get my money back.

This company is not trustworthy. I found an independent contractor who I will use when and if I get my money back.

It's crazy how many negative reviews can be found on GT. We had a HORRIBLE experience with them and now tearing down the 2k island top piece of garbage they put in our house.

I left a 12 paragraph review on them (here in SA)...I really hope people research these guys and their product before making the $$$ leap. I wish I wouldhave listed to my wife...

Our corporate office has been in touch with Tomjones to resolve his issue. The location in Idaho went out of business and the corporate office took care of everyone who had contracts with that location. This is one of the major advantages of going with a reputable company with a worldwide presence. Here is a testimonial from another Idaho customer

www.facebook.com/granitetransformations

"I live in Boise, ID and worked with Granite Transformations for my kitchen. All seemed to be going well, when a couple of delays in installation occurrred and then I was called that the company was going out of business and declaring bankrupcy. Needless to say I was dismayed and my relatively substantial deposit was part of the bankruptcy proceedings. I was in a quandry and dismayed. About 4 weeks after the notification of bankruptcy, I received a call from the Regional Representative that the parent company was going to make good on all the contracts that had been executed in the Boise area if the customer was still interested and they would honor both the quoted price/contract as well as give us the credit for our deposits.

I think this is one of the most honorable and ethical examples for any business to do...what an example. They obviously could have stepped back/away from this problem.

To make a long story short, my granite transformation counter tops were put in this Wednesday by a very professional crew and they are beautiful. My neigbor came over and she was oohing and ahhing which made me even more delighted than I already was.

Thank you John, Steve,Chris and crew for all your wonderful customer service and help and fantastic work and outcome.

Most Sincerly, Nancy from Boise"

Inferior product and truly awful customer service

I weighed several other options prior to settling on them primarily because I did not want to replace the existing tile back splash. The installation crew did a satisfactory job and were polite, no complaints there. The counter top however is not smooth; has numerous pin point defects which feel rough. When I confronted the franchisee, his defense was that it is man made material and one should expect such flaws, if you can believe it! One expects pits and veins in natural products such as slab granite and marble. It is precisely because it is man made, one expects perfection provided adequate quality standards and controls in both manufacture and, thorough inspection prior to fabrication. Corian and Quartz counter tops have no such defects, at least in the show rooms nor do the samples that they provide or what they show in their own show room. I wrote a letter next day and asked for a written response. Instead I received a very rude phone call, a woman shouting at me, ignoring all I stated in my letter. The business is run by a husband, wife team who do not strike me as very educated and she is a very ill mannered in my one encounter with her. So Buyers in Oklahoma City BEWARE! You have been warned!

well why didnt they fill in the pin holes prior to installation it cant be that hard

Guest

Anonymous in Yukon, OK - sorry for the problems you encountered with our product. I spoke with Kimberly, one of the owners that performed your job.

She said you got one of our recycled glass products installed in your home. These products can contain small pin holes in the glass from the manufacturing process, which we normally correct prior to installation. Unfortunately, in your case this was not done. However, she indicated they were willing to go back out to your home and correct the situation by filling in the pin-holes, which is what we normally do prior to installation.

She also indicated you didn't want them to do that, which does make it difficult to correct the situation.

Hopefully, you will reconsider and allow them to do the necessary service for your satisfaction.

Thanks for using Granite Transformations - we love to make sure all our customers are happy with our work!

Bob,

I understand that this is your company but did you speak with the customer directly or just the company. Sounds like if the product has holes in it it would fail some sort of initial production check before getting to the shop. Sounds like a great product ????

Pearl, I didn't speak to the customer - I don't know who it was. I just contacted the owner of the location listed to let the them know they had a dissatisfied customer.

The product is actually amazing - it uses post-consumer recycled glass and is incredibly beautiful as well as environmentally friendly. We have about 180 dealers worldwide and are nearing one million installations, so occasionally there are some issues, but we are trying our best to not let any get through.

And if a customer does have an issue, we have a great customer satisfaction department to take care of them.

Product I can live with service HORRIBLE

We ordered our countertops (recycled glass) February 25th. The company said they were backed up/busy from a home show and could not install until the first week of April. The installation was scheduled for MID - April , then re-scheduled for Mid-May.Three months. When I walked into the showroom originally I was told "they are all the same regarding ownership" they are not, it is a franchise. We ordered a specific edge, the product was delivered with teh wrong edge. The OWNER says, we can take it back and re-schedule...wow reschedule? after three months?? we kept what they sent. the edges are rough and chipped, the edges are white lighter than the countertops and I had to go over them with a black permanant marker...if you choose to work with this company, meet multiple owners, see if you feel comfortable with and do not expect the truth. the product is not bulletproof! and if it is not in writing, it is not part of your agreement. PERIOD.

Appreciate being contacted by both granite transformations employees/corporate, it softened the way I felt for a short time, but I do not feel further discussion would have value.

Franchise owner does not tell the truth, and is the reason we had a bad experience. If you like the product, do not work with the FRISCO, TX location on Custer & 121. If you do 1) get the measurement date and installation date IN WRITING. 2) get a copy of the warranty or a sample of the warranty ahead of time, so you can weigh the product against other products you might be considering 2) get a copy of the care instructions of the product, so you can weigh the care against other products you might be considering and DO NOT accept/believe anything verbal.

We paid 1/2 of the cost the day we ordered, an additional 1/4 two weeks later at measurement and they took their time...they have your money, no reason to rush or communicate in any way. Three months later we have the product.

Use another Franchise. PERIOD. if you want the product after making an educated comparison of products.

Crying wife now pleased

Granite transformation of Central Alabama have come back out and fixed and completed our countertop. My wife and I are now vey pleased with the job and have had great comments on our countertop from friends. I would now highly recommend Granite Transformations of Central Alabama. The job turned out very good and the company came back and finished the underneath area of the countertop. The job one has a rich finished look. The tops are very serviceable and never need to be resealed like ordinary granite. The counters have a nice sheen and really look great in the lite. Please disregard my earlier complaint. Happy Again!,,

Granite Transformations of Central Alabama ruined my kitchen.

My wife has been crying for days. We just had our granite transformation counters installed and my wife is sick. Our old granite counter top had a bull nose edge. The new tops that were installed are squared off and extend two inches beyond the cabinet. This overhang space is not finished but rather filled with soft goop, splintering wood, and hollow places up to two inches wide. Many of these imperfections are viewable from eye level. I have contacted the company and they seem very unconcerned. I guess my only options are to replace or sue? My wife has cried for days. I wish that we would have done more research before going with Granite Transformations.

Granite Trans. GR Just did my kitchen too

This is the same company that just did the granite in my kitchen and two baths. Though I'm not sure of this legitimacy of this person or what she was told of course. But yes, they do offer a free sink as an incentive to close the sale. Not unusual. Just like the free cell phone offer in the days of yore. This is how the salesperson closes the sale. Quite frankly, this is standard sales procedure. What is different from my sales pitch is that WE were TOTALLY responsible to make our own arrangements for all the plumbing work. Granite Transformations did no plumbing at all - just installed the sink and the counters. That is their standard way of operating, so I question this part of the complaint. I did have one snag and that was the salesman thinking I could use the larger size sink and get it in black. When the workers came my room/vanity size (I was keeping my old vanity and faucets due to my low budget) meant that I had to go with a smaller size sink and it only came in white. This was a "mistake" on the part of the salesman, who as the national sales manager SHOULD have known better but this was not illegal or immoral by any means. I was disappointed of course, but except for this issue, I did get what I paid for. My two counters seams are almost invisible and very well done. This product has a medium shine to it, which looks fine to me. I had gone to the showroom and viewed their work as well as gone to a home in which they had done work and talked to the owners, who by the way had their kitchen and both bathrooms done and were very satisfied. Because I had done my homework, I knew what to expect. I can only wonder of this disgruntled person had done their homework? Did they ask the necessary questions on the product/ask to see samples, ask about the placement of seams etc. upfront? Sometimes a person has a set of "unrealistic expectations" for some unknown reason and then those expectations are not met. Whose issue is that - the company or the person?

I'm in a nightmare, my 250k home is detroyed

where Do I begin. I should have read the reviews.

I blame myself.... I am having Kitchen, full bath and half bath done. I had to stop the contruction after the third day. the workmanship is so bad.

I cannot start to tell you the seams are noticable and the faucet is damage with scratches from the install, then plumbing is not up to code. the under mount sinks are set wrong and the cut out is not round. They did nothing about all the dust everything in my house needs cleaned, EVERYTHING. the dust when thru the return and blew all over my house including my bedroom whitch is upstairs on the other end of the house.

I dont know what Im going to do. Small claims I guess......

after all we have been thru with granite transformations 20k purchace, they forgot to order several things and what really set me off is when the same plumber I ask not to return shows up to day in install the faucets I dont have. Im beside myself, Don Coy 317-531-**** any question please ask

Update:

This job was repaired and looks great. In fact, we actually going to use some of the photos from this kitchen on our iPad photo presentations. The customer had asked for some very unique things to be done (that are a little out of the ordinay) and all those items turned out good in the end... just like the photos in our catalog/brochure where those ideas originally came from.

Even though the original post had a number of inaccuracies, that didn't take away from the fact that the job needed attention. I'm glad it all looks good now.

We take customer comments seriously and use an independent company (Listen360) to gather feedback from our completed jobs. That feedback goes to both the franchisor and the franchisee to review. The vast majority of customers give us a 10 out of 10 rating. Whether you choose the internet or Listen360, each comment is taken seriously.

As the owner of the GT franchise that performed the work at this customer's house, I'd like to reply to his comments. Regardless of the accuracy of the posted comments, I regret that the customers' expectations were not met and I want to make it right.

At some point, every business has an incident in which the service or product didn't live up to the customers' expectations.

When these situations occur, it's not a matter of "who is right" but rather "what is right". Both Granite Transformations (the franchisor) and I (the franchisee) are doing what we believe to be right. We have both been in contact with this person and have offered to take care of all of his concerns.

Fortunately for us at Granite Transformations these types of incidents occur minimally. The vast majority of our customers love the product and the positive change it has made in their homes.

In fact, a large percentage of our new business comes from referrals offered by past customers. Just to recap, it is our goal to make it right with this customer and we are currently taking steps to get to that goal.

We are sorry to hear you are not happy with your Granite Transformations’ experience. We’ve been in contact with the local franchisee serving your area and understand that he was in contact with you on 5/7/12 regarding your concerns and offered to address any and all issues.

We will continue to work with the franchisee to ensure proper steps are taken and we encourage you to work with him to alleviate your concerns.

Granite Transformations has an excellent reputation for its workmanship and product across the U.S. and Internationally and would like to address your concerns regarding the product and installation in order to provide you with the quality kitchen and bathroom that you desire.

Was roaming this site after posting a comment on Quibids and saw this post. Based on a referal of a friend, I had Granite Transformations do work in a house of mine 5 years ago and they did a great job.

I've since had them do the countertops in my other home in Florida. Same result, great looks, easy installation.

Do Not Use Granite Transformations Glenfield

April 2011 I contracted GT Glenfield to resurface my kitchen bench top. There has been nothing but trouble from the worst customer servie I have ever experienced with their manager and admin staff to having to take them to the Disputes Tribunal to get a settlemetn over poor workmanship.t.

The installtation was done with unskilled staff who had no idea how to replace the sink - which thanks to mediation was ordered to done properly with GT. G paying a registered plumber to do the work. The bench top overlay was not installed properly and did not stick to my bench in the corners due to a lack of preperation. Thjey have constantly delayed viewing or making the repairs by months.

Now 10 months later an order has been made for them to repair the bench top. Now they state they have have no matching bench top to do the repair. Don't waste your energy contacting their head office in Australia because they believe the untruths told to them by the Glenfield Manager.

By the way he also owns a kitchen installation business and friends have had the same problem with him there. STAY CLEAR OF GRANITE TRANSFORMATIONS and inparticular the Glenfield NZ branch.

That's a pity. I used the original Mt Roskill G T about 10 years ago who were excellent.

I couldn't have asked for better service or workmanship.

Unfortunately they closed and I have lost the installer's name who went into business in Tauranga. I did approach the Glenfield branch with a query once but no response.

No estimate unless all parties present

I tried to get an estimate from Granite Transformations and was told that both my wife and myself had to be present. Told the sales person that wouldn't be possible and the conversation started to get heated which the sales person hung up on me. Called back to let them know I would be filing a complaint and the owner called me back to ask why. He didn't even ask why and would only give an estimate way over the price of granite. and it would be best if both the wife and me be present for the presentation.

I totally agree. Time is money and respect for a business that in willing to travel to you and not make you come into the showroom is well deserved

If anyone thinks this is a bad business practice, I encourage them to spend $300K of their own money starting a company that proves the theory. Spend all your time and resources running around the city giving free estimates to people who aren't serious enough about the project to schedule a time when both spouses can be there.

Who knows, maybe you will prove that this is a really good business practice and get rich in the process. But those of us who have our lifes savings on the line know that a willingness to have both spouses at the appointment is the difference between "curious" and "serious".

Until the other theory is proven, I would encourage people requesting a free estimate not to criticize the business practices of those spending their own time and money doing the estimates. Keep in mind that The Economic Stimulus Package of 2009 did not include money to compensate estimators.

They did a good job

We had Grnaite Transformations in Maryland do our master bathroom using the granite overlay to cover shower walls (no grout lines!), our tub and floor. They did a very good job and it looks beautiful. The price was about 1/3 of what it would have been had we had to demolish the old tiles and it only took 1 week (versus 3 or 4 weeks the other way). We're very happy with the new look and there's no maintanence and with no grout lines, my wife is very happy that she doesnt have to clean grout lines. They also did a neighbors kitchen and they had a very positive experience with them

I had a good experience with them

We had a master bath done by Granite Transformations in Maryland and they covered all our old tile and made our old dated bathroom look beautiful. We used a light colored granite with glass mosaic tiles as an accent strip and we love what they did. It took them 5 days to do it and it was a lot less messy than if we had to tear out all the tile. We found them to be very professional and pleasant and overall less then half the price of the custom remodels we had estimates for. I would always get a couple of estimates for any major job, but from our experience they did a beautiful job and were very professional.

GT's bid was higher for me! I had another company do the work and they did my tile in 2 days....and the REAL GRANITE in one day....and it is much more beautiful & much richer looking than GT's overlay product.

(it's not granite by the way!) I actually TORE OUT GT's cuz it looked so cheap! I was embarrased by the looks of it.
